Family History
The story of our family is one that is multi-generational here in Fannin County. One forefather settled and married Cherokee woman before the Trail of Tears. Other relatives moved here from North Carolina after the Cherokees were evicted. We have a large extended family and are better connected than Kevin Bacon. My grandparents were farmers able to feed their families and occasionally worked other jobs. My parents generation looked for more gainful employment and my aunt who lived across the road was the last one to really make a living with a dairy. But now that farm is fallow. But what a wonderful place to grow up. I have cousins who are in medicine, law, engineering, scientists, ministers, teachers, tradesmen and various business careers.
